Kiwi Kiss Cocktail Recipe — Refreshing Kiwi Vodka Drink

kiwi-kiss-rum-cocktailDO YOU KNOW WHAT TODAY IS?!

If you answered Thursday or St. Patrick’s Day, that’s fair—but neither of those things really calls for internet shouting. (Unless you’re a dedicated St. Paddy’s fan, in which case you might be Irish, under 25, or convinced you saw a leprechaun in a tree this morning.)

Today marks the beginning of something I’ve been looking forward to since March 2015.

No, I didn’t land a TV gig, meet a celebrity, or get whisked away on a surprise vacation. I wasn’t asked to pose for a magazine and no athlete has endorsed my diet—what’s happening is much better.

Can you feel the suspense? Have you already guessed? Are you enjoying this intro as much as I am?

kiwi-kiss-rum-cocktail-2IT’S BIRTHDAY PRINCESS WEEK ON DOMESTICATE ME!

Given my love of celebration (and a mild red wine hangover), I’d like to imagine you’re somewhere loudly proclaiming, “It’s here!”

kiwi-kiss-rum-cocktail-4My actual birthday isn’t until Tuesday, but like any self-respecting birthday princess, I’ll celebrate for a full week. I’m already two days in and it’s going splendidly. There will be cocktails, treats, confessions, and more—both in real life and on the blog. Although 29 feels like an odd transitional year, I plan to make it memorable. After all, 28 was a hilarious, exciting, stressful, and very long year. It deserves a proper send-off.

I sincerely hope Logan ordered my Momofuku cake…

kiwi-kiss-cocktail-4To kick things off, let’s raise a glass to a dressed-up cocktail: the Kiwi Kiss. This lively green drink blends kiwi, fresh mint, lime juice, and light rum into a sweet-tart, refreshing sip. Think of it as a kiwi-forward mojito—the fruit’s natural sweetness means you can skip heavy added sugars, which is good news for both your waistline and the morning after.

The recipe makes four cocktails and scales easily for a larger crowd. Because the ingredients go straight into a blender, it’s an ideal batch cocktail for spring entertaining—Easter brunches, bridal or baby showers, birthday parties, and yes, even St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The color is on point this week.

Bright, tangy, and refreshing, this kiwi-laced cocktail is a perfect choice for warm-weather entertaining. Pucker up!

Ingredients

  • 4 kiwis
  • 1/3 cup fresh mint leaves
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 cup light rum
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave
  • Club soda

For garnish: (optional)

  • Kiwi or lime rounds

Instructions

  • Slice the kiwis in half crosswise. Scoop the flesh from each half into a blender.
  • Add the mint leaves, lime juice, rum, and honey or agave. Blend until smooth; you’ll still see kiwi seeds, which is fine. Taste and add more honey or agave if needed.
  • Divide the kiwi mixture among four glasses filled with ice. Top each with 2–3 ounces of club soda. Garnish with a kiwi or lime round if desired.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, replace the rum with non-alcoholic ginger beer for a spicy lift, or with coconut water for a tropical feel.
