In autumn I love pairing apples with savory dishes, and pork is one of my favorite combinations. This weekend I made crock pot apple pork chops with cornbread stuffing. The apples, onions and pork slow-cooked together all day, filling the house with a warm, comforting aroma when I walked in.

Apple Pork Chops and Stuffing Ingredients

We used to butcher our own pigs, and now buy locally from nearby farmers. That background makes pork dishes like this feel especially homey. Below is a concise list of the ingredients you need to prepare these crock pot apple pork chops with cornbread stuffing.

The ingredients:
- Bone-in pork chops (4)
- Box of cornbread stuffing mix (or pork-flavored stuffing)
- 3 celery stalks
- 1 onion
- 1 apple
- 1 cup water (plus up to 1/2 cup more if needed)
- 1 tablespoon seasoning salt
How to Make Crock Pot Apple Pork Chops
Once the pork chops are mostly thawed, season both sides with seasoning salt. I like to brown them in a skillet for better color and flavor—about 5–7 minutes per side on medium-high heat.

While the chops brown, prepare the produce: chop the apple and celery into bite-sized pieces, dice half the onion and slice the other half. This gives texture to both the stuffing and the topping.

Prepare the cornbread stuffing according to the box directions, using one cup of water. The apples and vegetables release moisture during cooking, so one cup is usually enough; add extra water later if the stuffing seems dry.

Stir half of the chopped apple, half the celery, and the diced onion into the prepared stuffing. Spread the stuffing evenly in the bottom of the crock pot. Arrange the browned pork chops on top of the stuffing, then layer the remaining apple, celery and sliced onion over the chops. Sprinkle a little more seasoning salt across the top and pour about 1/2 cup of water over everything.

Cook on low for 4–6 hours. Check the stuffing near the end of cooking—if it looks too dry, add another 1/2 cup of water and stir gently before serving. The finished dish combines tender pork with sweet-tart apples and savory cornbread stuffing for a comforting fall meal.
