Recipe Type: Dessert
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 10 mins
Total time: 20 mins
Serves: 48
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks, room temperature)
- 1 1/4 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, beat the room-temperature butter with the sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla and mix until creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate by hand to avoid overmixing. If desired, chill the dough briefly to help the cookies keep their shape.
- Drop teaspoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving about an inch between each. Bake for 8–10 minutes—watch closely and avoid overbaking so the cookies stay tender. Let the cookies cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
Makes about 4 dozen small cookies
